Alongside the takeoff of 5G, Joe explains that a new ecosystem is emerging around Open RAN, which is enabling the disaggregation of the network. This means that MNOs have greater choice in which vendors they use to build their networks, which in turn helps their sustainability progress.

“ This allows more energy-efficient cloud RAN technology and centralized RAN architectures while providing greater ability to upgrade infrastructure through software.”
