The battle for a bigger slice of the fast-developing satellite internet market is growing more competitive as companies jockey for the right to provide rural broadband access to billions of potential customers from above the clouds .
The three leaders in this 21st Century Space Race are Elon Musk ’ s Starlink - which is putting hundreds of new micro-satellites into orbit every month , thanks to its association with SpaceX - Project Kuiper and OneWeb .
Project Kuiper , Amazon ’ s entry into the market , has yet to put any of its satellites into orbit - largely due to the fact that SpaceX is the most widely-available source of rocket real estate and is firmly committed to Kuiper ’ s bitter rival - but recently signed an agreement for nine launches with the United Launch Alliance .
